A zine, short for “magazine,” is a self-published print work made in small batches. Zines can take many shapes and sizes and may be created using a wide variety of art supplies and techniques.
Some zines are made from a single sheet of folded paper, while others are created as booklets that are hand-bound by the creator. One of the best things about zines is that anybody can make one.
The Zine Collection includes zines on a variety of topics and is housed with the teen collection. Selected zines are consistent with the Library’s criteria for teen materials.
This collection began as a teen-focused pilot project, with the hope of expanding in the future if the pilot is successful.
