Battle of the Books
This year, we celebrated our 7th annual Battle of the Books: Middle School Edition program! Forty-two teams made up of 98 students registered for a chance to win Barnes & Noble gift cards, medals, author-signed books, and the coveted star trophy.
After a series of fun battles, our 2026 champions are Caleb, Nathanael, Paul, Anneliese and Eileigh from The Return of the Toothy Cows team!
Special Author Scorekeeper Tracy Badua
Students also had the opportunity to meet one of the authors featured in this year’s program, thanks to the Friends of the Virginia Beach Public Library. Tracy Badua, author of Freddie vs. the Family Curse, attended the finale and served as a guest scorekeeper.
2027 book titles and program details will be released on Oct. 1, 2026.
Thank you to Friends of Virginia Beach Public Library and the Virginia Beach Library Foundation for their continued support of the Battle of the Books!
